AMS 2750G: Heat Treatment Specification for Aerospace Components
A specification authored and governed by SAE International
Per AMS (Aerospace Material Specification) 2750
The AMS 2750G, previously known as AMS2750 Rev. E, is an aerospace material specification that covers the pyrometric requirements for thermal processing equipment used in heat treatment of aerospace components. This specification includes guidelines for temperature sensors, instrumentation, thermal processing equipment, system accuracy tests, and temperature uniformity surveys to ensure that parts or raw materials are heat treated in accordance with the applicable specification(s).
It’s important to note that this specification is not applicable to heating or intermediate thermal processing unless specifically referenced by a material or process specification. However, it does apply to laboratory furnaces to the extent specified in 3.6.
Understanding AMS2750G: The Standards for Aerospace and Heat Treating Industries
First published in April of 1980, AMS2750 was introduced to cover specifics for thermal pyrometry involving the use of heat treating equipment. Its primary purpose is to give better definition to the pyrometry specifications required in AMS2770 for heat treating parts. This includes guidelines for Thermocouples, Controllers, and Recording Apparatus, as well as the tight temperature specifications needed on Ovens and Furnaces for heat treating parts that fly. Additionally, the specification outlines the System Accuracy Tests (SATs) and Temperature Uniformity Surveys (SUTs) that must be performed to keep these systems in calibration to the specifications required within AMS2750.
The latest revision, AMS 2750G, was published in July of 2012. It covers the changes and modifications made to the original document and subsequent revisions to keep the specifications up to date on the standards set forth by the governing agencies associated with the aerospace and heat treating industries. This revision is acceptable as an option to BAC5621 and is also used in NADCAP accreditation.
At DELTA H TECHNOLOGIES, we are proud to offer Ovens and Furnaces that are built from the ground up to meet and exceed the standards set forth by AMS2750G. Our products are instrumental in helping our clients achieve NADCAP accreditation.
